(born January 22, 1944) is an Israeli applied mathematician and currently an emeritus professor of applied mathematics at the School of Mathematical Sciences, Tel Aviv University.He is known for his contributions to numerical analysis of Partial Differential equations particularly in the fields of computational fluid dynamics, computational electromagnetics, acoustics and elasticity.
  • His other research interests include algorithms for scattering and inverse scattering, image processing, and crack propagation.
  • His most quoted paper is with Jameson and Shmidt (JST) on a Runge-Kutta scheme to solve the Euler equations.
  • His other main contributions include fast algorithms for the Navier-Stokes equations based on preconditioning techniques, radiation boundary conditions and high order accuracy for wave propagation in general shaped domains.
