Meusebach successfully negotiated the Meusebach–Comanche Treaty, Kriewitz lived among the Penateka Comanche as an intermediary between the whites and Penateka.
In 1993, his home in Castell, Texas, was designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, Marker number 9444.
