About Emily Shard
- Lady Emily Tsering Shard (née Lascelles, born 23 November 1975) is the eldest child and only daughter of the 8th Earl of Harewood, a British film producer who is the eldest son of the 7th Earl of Harewood (himself a first cousin of the Queen).
- Emily and her brother, Benjamin, were born out of wedlock and therefore have no claims to the Harewood titles, nor places in the line of succession to the British throne.
- Their two younger brothers are legitimate.
- Though they were born illegitimate, Emily and Benjamin were later legitimised by the Privy Council and given the titles befitting children of a viscount (and after their father inherited the family earldom, of an earl), though not the rank that would come from being born in wedlock.
- This means that although Emily enjoys the style and formal address of "Lady Emily", she and Benjamin are not entitled to any claims on the Harewood titles.
