About Gary Chaloner

  • Gary Chaloner (born 30 March 1963 in Sydney) is an Australian comic book artist and writer.
  • He began self publishing in 1985 with David de Vries, Glenn Lumsden and Tad Pietrzykowski under the Cyclone Comics imprint.
  • He has collaborated with Ashley Wood, Ben Templesmith, Kurt Busiek, Stephen Jewell and Tim Byrd.
  • He is the writer/artist of Will Eisner's John Law, Robert E.
  • Howard's comedy western character, Breckinridge Elkins, Red Kelso, The Jackaroo, Flash Damingo, The Undertaker Morton Stone (with Ashley Wood and Ben Templesmith) and "Planet of the Apes: Urchak's Folly" (with Dillon Naylor and Greg Gates).
  • He has also worked for Marvel Comics, DC Comics and Dark Horse Comics in the United States. In 2002, he worked with Will Eisner to develop new stories featuring the Eisner creations John Law, Lady Luck and Mr.

His current projects include Doc Wilde (with writer Tim Byrd), Cyclone Force (with Tim McEwen, Tad Pietrzykowski and Graeme Jackson), and Proud Heart, The Love of Achilles (with writer Gary Proudley). He was the 2017 recipient of the Jim Russell Award, made to the individual or organization who in the opinion of the Australian Cartoonists' Association Board has made a significant contribution to Australian cartooning.He resides in Tasmania, Australia.
