Koose Munisamy Veerappan
(18 January 1952 – 18 October 2004) was an Indian bandit (dacoit) who was active for 36 years, kidnapping major politicians for ransom.
He was charged with sandalwood smuggling in the scrub lands and forests in the states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
His long career and ability to evade police led him to be regarded as a Robin Hood figure to many.He was born, in Gopinatham, Karnataka in 1952.
He married Muthulakshmi, who reportedly married him because of his "notoriety and moustache" in 1990.
As of 2004, his two daughters, Vidya Rani (born in 1990) and Prabha (born in 1993), were studying in Tamil Nadu.
