August 15,1958 Mashhad) is a classical Persian musician and tar and setar player.
His first teacher,Ali Motebassem, was his father.
Later, he studied with musicians like Mohammad Reza Lotfi, Hossein Alizadeh and Hushang Zarif.
After migrating to Germany, in 1991, Motebassem founded Dastan ensemble which is one of the outstanding ensembles of contemporary Persian music.
In 2008, Hamid Motebassem founded the great orchestra of Iranian instruments that included 40 players and choir singers.
The orchestra was founded to perform Seemorgh which was composed by him for the great orchestra and was sang by Homayoun Shajarian.
The orchestra started performing in Autumn of 2009 in Iran.
Later on, in October 2011, Seemorgh was conducted by Hooman Khalatbari in The Hague of The Netherlands.
