- Prior to her tenure as governor, she served as secretary of justice from 2017 to 2019.
- A member of the pro-statehood New Progressive Party, Vázquez Garced is the second female governor in Puerto Rico history after Sila María Calderón, who was governor from 2001 to 2005.
