  • Henry Dayday (born October 8, 1939) was the mayor of Saskatoon from 1988 to 2000.
  • He was the 1999 Liberal candidate in Saskatoon—Rosetown—Biggar and sought the Conservative Party nomination for the 2004 general election in Saskatoon—Humboldt. Dayday was raised on a farm near the town of Bankend, Saskatchewan.
  • He holds a B.A.
  • and a B.Ed.
  • from the University of Saskatchewan and was a high school math teacher in several Saskatchewan communities before coming to Saskatoon in 1969.
  • He taught for several years at Evan Hardy and City Park Collegiates, and later at Marion M.
  • Graham Collegiate. Dayday ran unsuccessfully for City Council in 1973.
  • He was elected in 1976 and spent 24 uninterrupted years on Council.
  • He was elected Mayor in 1988 after Clifford Wright stepped down.
  • He was re-elected three more times before being defeated by Jim Maddin in 2000.
  • Since leaving Council, Dayday has worked as a business consultant and was a member of the Board of Directors of Saskatoon Airport Authority.
