  • Galpin traveled extensively in the United States and Europe, writing books and articles of travel, and lectured much upon this subject.
  • She was the author of several books and contributed to magazines, both prose and poems.She took a vital interest in hospital, charitable, and educational work, and when the Massachusetts Legislature provided for a “planning board” in every city of more than 10,000 people, the mayor of the city named her, with six men, on the Somerville board—the first woman in the state to occupy such a position.
