James Lister Newman, (23 April 1903 – 17 October 1983) was a New Zealand geriatrician and advocate for the elderly, medical superintendent at Cornwall and Greenlane Hospitals in Auckland, and writer of the New Zealand Herald's Family Doctor column.
He wrote an unpublished history of Cornwall Hospital, a copy of which is held in the Alexander Turnbull Library.
In the 1975 Birthday Honours, he was made a companion of the Queen's Service Order for Public Services (QSO) for "services to the care of geriatrics".
