About Gethyn Hewan

  • Gethyn Elliot Hewan (23 December 1916 – 1 July 1988) was an English first-class cricketer and schoolmaster.
  • He studied mathematics as the University of Cambridge, during which he played first-class cricket for Cambridge University Cricket Club, before accepting a fellowship to study at Yale University.
  • He served in the Second World War with the Royal Horse Artillery, for which he was mentioned in dispatches.
  • Following the war he took up teaching posts at several educational establishments, most notably as headmaster of Cranbrook School, Sydney.
