Geir Otto Pedersen (born 28 September 1955) is a Norwegian diplomat.
He is a cand.philol.
by education and started working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985.
He was promoted to head of department in 1997, but already in 1998 he was posted abroad, as councellor at the Norwegian embassy in Israel.
In 2003 he changed employee to the United Nations, among others serving as a special coordinator in Lebanon from 2007 to 2008.
He returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as deputy under-secretary of state, then served as Norway's ambassador to the United Nations from 2012 to 2017 and China from 2017 to 2018.
In January 2019 he started a tenure as United Nations Special Envoy to Syria.
