- Pruis (December 13, 1923 – January 15, 2016) was an American academic, best known as being a president of Ball State University as well as having a building dedicated in his name on the campus.
- He went to Western Michigan University for his education and later for a career.
- Pruis, originally from Holland, Michigan came to Ball State on July 1, 1968, and retiring in 1978.
