About John D. Waldorf

  • John David Waldorf (July 29, 1909 – August 12, 1982) was an American football player and coach and, later, a long-time college football and college basketball referee.
  • He played college football at the University of Missouri, where he was a two-time All Big 6 selection.He served as the head football coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1930 to 1932.After retiring from coaching, he became a respected game official in the Big 8 Conference.Waldorf was the brother of college football coaches Pappy Waldorf, Bob Waldorf, and Paul D.
