Louise Elisabeth Bachofen-Burckhardt (October 8, 1845 – February 21, 1920) was a Swiss philanthropist and the wife of the anthropologist and antiquarian Johann Jakob Bachofen. She is known for her art collection that she bequeathed to the Kunstmuseum Basel.
Over 300 paintings were collected during the last decades of her widowed life in order to found an arts museum able to rival the best of Europe.
She wrote a catalog of her collection that was published in 1907.
