Joseph Daniel Talbott (born (1944-11-01)November 1, 1944) is an American football, baseball, and basketball player.
He quarterbacked two seasons of football at UNC-Chapel Hill and was named the ACC Player of the Year in 1966.
He also led the UNC baseball team to the College World Series in 1966.
He was drafted 17th overall by the San Francisco 49ers before backing up quarterback Sonny Jurgenson for the Washington Redskins under Vince Lombardi.
He also played baseball professionally for the Baltimore Orioles.Talbott was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
His No.
10 jersey hangs in Kenan Stadium along with other honored jerseys.His hometown also remembers him for leading the Rocky Mount Senior High School Blackbirds to winning 4A state championships in baseball, basketball, and football his senior year in 1963.
In 2018, the Danny Talbott Cancer Center at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina was named after him.
