About Kate Crooks (botanist)
- Catharine (Kate) McGill Crooks Smart or Kate Crooks (February 13, 1833–March 23, 1871) was a botanist and member of the Botanical Society of Canada.
- Her pressed botanical specimens were displayed in London, England at the International Exhibition of 1862, and her botanical records were cited in the Catalogue of Canadian Plants; published as part of the Geological Survey of Canada.
- She was a member of the Crooks family, a prominent family of merchants, industrialists, civil servants, politicians, and landowners in the nineteenth-century British colony of Upper Canada.
