About Tom Leahy (footballer)

  • Thomas Joseph Leahy (13 January 1888 – 7 May 1964) was an Australian rules footballer who played 111 games with North Adelaide and 58 games with West Adelaide in the SAFL.A ruckman, Leahy won a Magarey Medal in 1913.
  • He was also a three time best and fairest winner for North Adelaide, in 1911, 1914 and 1919.
  • From 1910 to 1913 he was club captain, leading them again in 1915 and from 1919 to 1921.
  • Leahy represented South Australia at interstate football on 27 occasions during his career. After retiring as a player he became coach of Norwood and guided them to two premierships.
  • Leahy was named as the ruckman in North Adelaide's official 'Team of the Century'.
