- Professor of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. He finished secondary school in 1957.
- Then he studied at the university in Poznan.
- He gained MA in history in 1961 and PhD in 1966.
- The title of his doctoral thesis was Dokumenty i kancelaria wielkiego ksiecia Witolda.
