- He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a catcher from 1947 through 1956 for the Boston Red Sox, St.
- Louis Browns, Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds, with brief trades to Baltimore and Cleveland.
