About MiKKa

  • Mihajlo Obrenov aka miKKa is a Serbian musician, sound engineer and film director.
  • His main work consists of experimentation with sound and exploration of weird ambient noises.
  • As of 1998, he was a sound engineer and producer for many underground and alternative bands, such as: f.O.F, War Engine, Tamerlan, dreDDup, Odvojena Stvarnost ,MRT, CPR, Crna Barbi, Drop Dead, 3D RoÅ¡ava Pipe, CutNpasTe...
  • His music career as a singer and guitar player started in punk bands Klef and Mind Control in 1996.
  • Since 1997, MiKKa is the leading man behind industrial rock band dreDDup which gained a cult underground following in Serbia and region.
  • From 1998 until 2002, he was a vocalist and guitar player in a hardcore punk band called Mefisto.
  • Mefisto released only one album 'Bili smo ponosni ratnici' and had several concerts in local clubs.
  • In late 2002, Mihajlo begins to study film making at Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, under the worldwide praised Serbian director Vlatko Gilic.

  • The label itself signed more than 200 artists and organized over 200 happenings including concerts, art exhibitions, movie projections and lectures.

  • miKKa starts DJ-ing career playing music in local clubs under the moniker DJ Inquisitor.
  • The same year he starts an industrial project MRT which involves in a lot of sound experimentation.
  • MRT goes on to release 9 studio albums and starts performing live with poet Dalibor Radovanac on vocals.
  • From 2008 until 2010, miKKa is the co-host of 'Total War' radio show about underground music in Serbia and region.
  • The show started airing at 'RockTheBalkans' radio in France.
  • The following year, Mihajlo becomes a main editor of an 'Adrenalin' magazine which deals with alternative music.
  • The same year he starts another project called 'Grotesque on film through history' and 'Film making 101', a set of lectures for young audiences and movie lovers.
  • As a composer Mihajlo did music for many documentaries and theater plays starting with a theater play The Last Krapp's Tape in 2002.
  • Besides music, Mikka is involved into movie making - shooting underground films and music videos for alternative bands.
  • He shoot his first feature movie 'Život uspavanih secanja' back in 2005 and he directed his first dystopian movie entitled Araneum in 2010.
  • In 2017, he finished a massive documentary about underground music scene of his hometown Novi Sad entitled "Contact".
  • Cinema City (film festival) premiered the movie in September 2017.
  • In 2018, Mihajlo worked as a music composer on documentary "Enkel" directed by Aleksandar Reljic about Eva Mozes Kor, a holocaust survivor and Rainer Hoess, a grandson of Auschwitz commander, who symbolically adopted him as her own grandson.
  • He is currently working on 'Contact' television series.
