He is the incumbent Member of the Parliament for the Tanjong Karang constituency in Selangor and was also the Malaysian Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government (2016-2018).
He is a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), a major party in the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition.
