About Ray Yochim

  • Raymond Austin Aloysius Yochim (July 19, 1922 – January 26, 2002) was a professional baseball pitcher.
  • He played parts of two seasons in Major League Baseball with the St.
  • Louis Cardinals.
  • He pitched one game during the 1948 St.
  • Louis Cardinals season and three games during the 1949 St.
  • Louis Cardinals season. Yochim had an extensive career in minor league baseball.
  • He began his professional career in 1941 with the Springfield Cardinals, and moved his way up in the Cardinals' organization over that year and 1942.
  • After missing the 1943-45 seasons while serving in World War II, he returned to the Rochester Red Wings in 1946-47.
  • After his brief major league career, he continued to play in the minor leagues until 1958, when he served as player-manager of the New Orleans Pelicans. He was the older brother of former MLB pitcher and long time scout, Lenny Yochim (1928-2013).
