Richard Swan Baron (January 22, 1901 – March 15, 1942) was a United States Navy officer who received the Navy Cross for risking his life to recover classified documents during the bombardment of Cavite, Philippines.
He was killed during the bombing of Cebu City, Philippines.
His namesake, the USS Baron (DE-166), a destroyer escort, was commissioned July 5, 1943.
The commissioning was witnessed and sponsored by his widow, Anna Pryor Baron.
