  • He is the son of Robert Adams (who served in the War of 1812 in Colonel Adam McWillie's 2nd South Carolina Regiment) and Charlotte Belton Pickett Adams.
  • He is the grandson of Joel Adams and Grace Weston Adams.
  • Robert married Eveline McCord of Philadelphia, the great grandniece of Betsy Ross.Adams served in the mounted infantry unit, The Charleston Light Dragoons, 4th Regiment South Carolina Cavalry.
