Dominique Marie Jean Rey (born 21 September 1952) is the current bishop of Fréjus-Toulon in the province of Marseille, southern France, and a leading episcopate figure in the Catholic Church in France.Having served as curé of Ste.
Trinité church in Paris, he was appointed in May 2000 and consecrated bishop in September 2000.
Dominique Rey was appointed to the synod on evangelisation in 2012.
He has stressed an incompatibility between being a Catholic and a Freemason (the connotations of so called Continental Freemasonry in France differ significantly from those mainly operating in the English-speaking world, so called Regular Freemasonry).
In August 2015, he defended the decision of the diocese in its annual OSP (observatoire socio-politique) to invite a prominent National Front member of the French parliament, breaking with the consistent policy of the French episcopate not to include speakers from this party.
