David Lyle Boren (born April 21, 1941) is an American university administrator and politician from the state of Oklahoma.
A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 21st governor of Oklahoma from 1975 to 1979 and three terms in the United States Senate from 1979 to 1994, and as of 2019, is the last Democrat to have served as a U.S.
Senator from Oklahoma.
He was the 13th and second-longest serving president of the University of Oklahoma from 1994 to 2018.
He was the longest serving chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.
On September 20, 2017, Boren officially announced his retirement as president of the University of Oklahoma, effective June 30, 2018.Boren was a subject of a University of Oklahoma investigation into sexual harassment shortly after the end of his 24 year tenure as the institution's president.
University of Oklahoma regents have received the findings of that investigation, conducted by law firm Jones Day, but have not publicly released any information.

Gallogly who ordered investigations of Boren, resigned May 12, 2019 after ten months in office.
