- Born in Riverside, California, he is the son of former Cup and Winston West driver Butch Gilliland, and the father of NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series driver Todd Gilliland. Gilliland's only win in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in considered one of the biggest racing upsets of all time.
