About Tadeusz Pietrzykowski

  • Tadeusz "Teddy" Pietrzykowski (born 8 April 1917 in Warsaw, died 17 April 1991 in Bielsko-Biala) was a Polish boxer, Polish Armed Forces soldier, and a prisoner at Auschwitz-Birkenau and Neuengamme concentration camps during World War II.
  • He was part of the first mass transport to Auschwitz in June 1940, and was transferred to Neuengamme in 1943.
  • Parts of Pietrzykowski's life served as the basis for a story written by Jozef Hen (Bokser i smierc) and a film by Peter Solan (Boxer a smrt).
