About Jared Polis
- Jared Schutz Polis (; born May 12, 1975) is an American politician, entrepreneur, and philanthropist serving as the 43rd governor of Colorado since January 2019.
- A member of the Democratic Party, he served on the Colorado State Board of Education from 2001 to 2007 and was the United States Representative for Colorado's 2nd congressional district from 2009 to 2019.
- He was elected governor of Colorado in 2018, defeating Republican nominee Walker Stapleton. Polis is the first openly gay person and second openly LGBT person (after Kate Brown of Oregon) to be elected governor in the United States.
- He is also the first Jewish person to be elected governor of Colorado.
