About Lukáš Pohůnek

  • Lukáš Pohunek (born 24 October 1988, Žilina, former Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak conductor and trumpet player. He began his musical career as a child prodigy.
  • At 13, he performed as a soloist with the Slovak Philharmonic, the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic under the baton of Jakub Hruša.
  • Beginning in 2009 he studied conducting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague with Leos Swarowsky.
  • During his studies, he participated in master classes at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana with Gianluigi Gelmetti as well as in Valencia with George Pehlivanian.
  • He has conducted many major symphony orchestras in Europe and achieved excellent reviews.
  • He was assistant to Oliver von Dohnányi.
