Ivan Passer (born 10 July 1933) is a Czech-born film director and screenwriter.
Passer attended King George boarding school in Podebrady with Miloš Forman, Václav Havel and Jerzy Skolimowski.
He then went to study at FAMU, but didn't finish.
He started as an assistent director on Ladislav Helge's Velká samota.
Later he collaborated with his friend Miloš Forman on all of Forman's Czech movies.
He introduced Forman to Miroslav Ondrícek whom he knew from Velká samota.
In 1965 he directed his first feature Intimate Lighting.
In 1969 Passer left Czechoslovakia with Forman and has been living and working in the United States since then.
