  • Nicolas Jacques AndrĂ© Hulot (French pronunciation: ?[nik?la ?ak ?~d?e ylo]; born 30 April 1955 in Lille, France; officier de la LĂ©gion d'honneur, chevalier des Arts et Lettres) is a French journalist and environmental activist.
  • He is the founder and president of the Fondation Nicolas Hulot, an environmental group established in 1990. Hulot ran as a candidate in the primary for the Europe Ecology – The Greens party in 2011 eventually losing to Eva Joly.
  • Hulot has refused to be a minister for Jacques Chirac, Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande.In May 2017, he was appointed Minister for the Ecological and Solidary Transition in the first Philippe government.
  • On 28 August 2018, he announced his resignation from the government.
